Job Duties:

Transports a variety of supplies and materials to various locations by operating motor vehicles such as cars, trucks, and vans.
Loads and unloads items such as materials, supplies, Performs routine inspection and maintenance duties on vehicles and equipment such as securing load, cleaning interior and exterior of vehicle, fueling vehicle, checking belts, lights, and tires, and maintaining fluid levels. Recommends vehicle and equipment repairs as required.
Completes and maintains related records and documentation such as log books and statistics.
Performs administrative support duties such as answering telephones, arranging times for picking up and delivering supplies and materials, and altering schedules.
Maintains up to date inventory of supplies required by the Employment Unit Program and TEP placements, program, orders and delivers supplies to the program sites.
Drops off supplies required for the TEP placements
Performs safety site inspections
Ensures TEP sites and storage are in an organized orderly manner
Alerts TEP Employment Counsellors of any safety concerns with TE program participants or safety concerns on the sites
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Grade 12 education or equivalent
A valid Class 5 or 4 B.C. Driver’s License
Clean Driver’s abstract/record
A Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance
WHMIS certificate

Responsibilities

• Safely operate delivery vehicles such as box trucks and other commercial drivers’ vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Load and unload packages efficiently using equipment like pallet jacks, forklifts (if certified), or manual lifting techniques, ensuring items are secured properly for transit.
• Plan and follow optimized delivery routes to ensure timely deliveries while maintaining flexibility for route adjustments.
• Deliver packages directly to customers’ locations with a focus on providing excellent customer service, answering questions professionally, and handling any delivery issues promptly.
• Verify recipient identities and obtain signatures or proof of delivery as required.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, and route logs throughout each shift.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure safety and proper functioning of the vehicle.
• Assist with warehouse activities such as loading inventory, organizing shipments, and moving goods within the facility when needed.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers or team members regarding delivery statuses or any unforeseen issues during routes.
• Follow all safety protocols related to heavy lifting, moving goods, and operating equipment like forklifts or pallet jacks.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a delivery driver or courier, with a strong understanding of route driving and navigation skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory depending on vehicle type.
• Experience operating box trucks or similar commercial vehicles with manual transmission is highly desirable.
• Ability to lift heavy packages safely using proper techniques; experience with heavy lifting and moving is essential.
• Familiarity with warehouse operations including load & unload procedures, forklift operation (certification preferred), and use of pallet jacks.
• Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude towards clients and team members.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple deliveries efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
