Work setting - Willing to relocate
Tasks - Load and unload goods
- Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Pay and receive payments for goods
- Perform brake adjustments
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses - Driver’s License (Class 1 or A)
Weight handling - Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Support for newcomers and refugees - Does not require Canadian work experience
Support for youths - Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for youth
Support for Indigenous people - Provides cultural competency training and/or awareness training to all employees to create a welcoming work environment for Indigenous workers
Support for mature workers - Applies hiring policies that discourage age discrimination
Supports for visible minorities - Applies hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities (for example: anonymizing the hiring process, etc.)
