Mine Rescue Vehicle Operator

Emergency Response Specialist Role:
Operate customized rescue vehicles for underground mining emergencies at Vale and Glencore operations in Northern Ontario’s nickel basin.

Compensation Package:

  • Annual Earnings: 110,000−110,000−135,000 CAD
    • Base Wage: $52/hr (24/7 on-call rotation)
    • Emergency Activation: $1,000 per incident response
    • Certification Premiums: Up to $8,000 annually
  • Benefits:
    • Defined benefit pension (10% employer match)

    • 8 weeks paid leave (compressed schedule)

Critical Requirements:

  • Licensing: DZ License + Ontario Mine Rescue Certification
  • Specialized Training:
    • Confined Space Rescue (80-hour course)
    • Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
    • Emergency Mine Communications
  • Physical Standards:
    • Underground fitness test (carry 90lbs 300m)
    • Claustrophobia screening
    • Dark adaptation testing

  • Operate:
    • Draeger rescue chambers
    • Borehole drilling units
    • Explosion-proof ambulances
  • Maintain:
    • Atmospheric monitoring systems
    • Emergency oxygen supplies
