Under the supervision of the Planner or delegate, you will operate and maintain light and medium vehicles and auxiliary implements.
Will haul, load/unload various types of apparatus, construction material and equipment. Will perform other various duties in the
planning, management/expediting of maintenance for equipment/tools/material within the Indigenous & Community Relations
Division in addition to working with other work groups as required. The items range from boats and snowmobiles to electronic
equipment used for the Waterways Management Program and other various work.
Responsibilities:
- Will proactively expedite and facilitate all equipment, tools, and material for the Waterways Programming Department to various work areas.
- Assist the Claim’s Supervisor in pick-up and delivery of damaged equipment for evaluation and repair.
- Collect and organize technical data using digital cameras, GPS, laptop computer and related software programs.
- Operate and maintain assigned vehicles in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act Regulations and Manitoba Hydro Standards.
- Actively participate with planning, scheduling, and executing the duties performed by support staff and coordinate /communicate with Vendors.
- Operate/perform minor repairs on power tools, hand tools, and equipment.
- May be required to operate and maintain equipment including:
- Boat
- Forklift
- Tandem Axle Dump Truck
- Skid Steer
- ATV
- Loader
- Power Toboggan
- Required to direct and train junior staff.
- Carry out rough carpentry work related to the obligations of agreements.
- Will be required for emergency response.
- Will be required to work in various locations and to travel by all modes of transportation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Grade 10 education.
- Must have necessary experience to operate equipment assigned to the classification.
- Possess and maintain a valid Province of Manitoba Driver’s Licence Class 3 with Air Brake endorsement.
- Possess or will be required to obtain a Manitoba Hydro Equipment Operator’s Permit appropriate to the equipment to be Operated
- Must be willing to complete the O.D. training program.
- Possess working knowledge of computer system with EAM and Fleet M5 inventory system.
- Possess demonstrated skills and abilities relating to Indigenous Traditional Knowledge.
- Must be physically capable of carrying out tasks at hand and duties assigned, in adverse weather conditions, at heights, and unusual work environments such as noise or dust.
- Familiar with and adhere to Manitoba Hydro Safety Management System and the Workplace Regulation Health Act.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety.
- Possess knowledge in the practices of handling, securing, and hauling of material and heavy equipment.
- Possess knowledge of the equipment’s use and service requirements including pre-trip inspection and log book entries.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and individually, with fellow employees and customers.
- Required to travel by all modes of transportation i.e. air, land and water.
